Prérequis : Les neuroleptiques constituent le traitement de référence de la schizophrénie. Ce traitement se caractérise par des effets secondaires souvent très invalidants. Plusieurs études se sont intéressées à trouver d'autres moyens thérapeutiques aussi efficaces.

But : Evaluer l'apport de l'acupuncture dans le traitement de patients suivis pour schizophrénie en population Tunisienne.

Méthodes : EN 2007, nous avons réalisé à l'hôpital Razi une étude randomisée en double aveugle auprès de 31 patients hospitalisés pour une schizophrénie ou un trouble schizoaffectif avec pour but de comparer l'efficacité de l'association neuroleptiques acupuncture aux neuroleptiques seuls. L'évaluation du profil clinique des patients a été réalisée par la PANSS (positive and négative syndrome scale),la SAPS (scale for the assesment of positive symptoms) et la SANS (scale for the assesment of négative symptoms) à l'inclusion et à la fin de l'étude. La technique utilisée était l'acupuncture simple associée aux manipulations pendant 10 séances au rythme de trois séances par semaine.

Résultats : Seize patients ont été traités par l'association neuroleptiques Sham-acupuncture (placebo) et 15 par l'association neuroleptiques acupuncture (vraie). À la fin de l'étude, les deux groupes de patients avaient des scores comparables aux différentes échelles utilisées. Conclusion : l'association de l'acupuncture aux neuroleptiques n'est pas supérieure aux neuroleptiques seuls.
